Workwear for Winter
With the colder months creeping up on us comes the importance of appropriate workwear. Every season presents its own weather hazards that a range of Aussie trades will have to deal with within their workplace conditions.
Winter and colder weather conditions can make workers more vulnerable to cold stress, lower immune defence and increased likelihood of contracting illnesses. Winter work jackets, among other winter workwear can decrease your chance of getting sick and keep you nice and warm no matter where you’re working.
Today we’ll be going over different work equipment to help defend you from the cold.
Hoodies
Hoodies made specifically for work environments look great while giving your body an extra layer of warmth against the cold morning frost. A lot of these hoodies are made from low pilling fleece, so it’ll stay looking brand new for longer.
Most of these hoodies come with extra pockets, like pen or arm pockets, and sometimes can be zipped up to prevent anything from falling out or getting caught in machinery. You can also get hi-vis hoodies, perfect if you’re working early in the morning or late at night. These usually come with an extra layer or wool inside, specifically for night workers.
Jackets
Quilted jackets are quickly becoming a popular choice among tradies. Similar in look to a flannel but with a much thicker material seen in most jackets. These usually come with a hoodie sewn underneath. Made from a heavyweight cotton flannel lined with a warm fleece, this jacket is a perfect addition to your winter wardrobe. With easily accessible external and internal pockets there’s room for everything you need.
Vests
All of the workwear mentioned above is also available in a vest form. This is perfect to layer with a long-sleeved shirt to keep your chest and core warm throughout the day, without your puffy and layered sleeves getting in the way. This is a great option if you use a lot of machinery that could potentially catch against your sleeves.
Beanies
Beanies are an essential part to any winter wardrobe. Your body’s warmth leaves through your head, by wearing a beanie to work you can keep your ears warm while also working to warm up your whole body. These can work much more efficiently at warming you up then a hat, making them an easy contender for your winter workwear.
Long Sleeved Shirts
Long sleeved shirts are an obvious choice when it comes to winter. They can be layered under hoodies, jackets or vests to give you an extra layer of warmth. Some of these shirts are made with a thicker material perfect for those cold winter mornings. These can easily be worn across the seasons too, not just limited to winter.
